Lady Gaga did at the Oscars what everybody was expecting her to do at the Grammys: a simple, stripped, beautiful performance of the hit single “Shallow”. The singer and actress sat down at the piano with Bradley Cooper this Sunday (Feb. 24) for the first performance of the “A Star Is Born” theme on TV.
“Shallow” won “Best Original Song”, giving Lady Gaga her first Oscar and making the “A Star Is Born” theme the most awarded song in history and Gaga the first female artist to win all of the big five awards in a single award season.
The singer was also nominated for “Best Actress in a Leading Role”, but the award was given to Olivia Colman for her role in “The Favourite”. “A Star Is Born” was nominated for “Best Movie”, but “The Green Book” was the big winner.
