After six long years waiting, Avril Lavigne’s fans finally have a new record on their playlists. “Head Above Water”, Avril’s sixth studio album, arrived this Friday (Feb. 15) with a lot of expectation!
The project was inspired by the singer’s time away from the showbiz, when she was recovering from complications of Lyme disease. This challeging process was essential to build the lyrical content of the album, that often brings up talks of strength and hope.
This time, Avril is showing a more mature sound, leaving behind the pop/rock bops that were her trademark. In “Head Above Water”, fans will find tracks with emotional depth and, of course, some moments of fun. Despite this new sound, presented with a lot of authenticity, the songs won’t scare old fans that have been following her since the beginning – you can still identify the same old Avril Lavigne.
