Despite not having attended the ceremony, after disagreements with the production of the show, Ariana Grande was the most popular conversation theme at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Winner in the category for Best Pop Album, the singer did not react very well to Cardi B’s victory in the category for Best Rap Album, the same one that her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, who passed away in 2018, competed. On her Twitter profile, the singer posted a few cursing words, such as “fuck” and “junk”, some of which were deleted later, but not before being printed and re-posted on the Internet by Twitter users.
After the negative repercussion, Ariana Grande explained the “missunderstood” and claimed that the words had nothing to do with Cardi B winning and it was only because of Mac Miller’s lost.
“Nothing to do with her. Good for her. I promise. I’m sorry”, Ariana wrote after a follower defended her saying that the singer was not criticizing the winning.
Ariana Grande even defended Cardi B when one of her followers called the rapper “trash.” “She’s not at all and that’s not what I meant and you know that,” she wrote.
